The Chalice – September 2025
From your director of Congregational Life
It’s finally finished! For any who don’t know I have completed a Master’s of Divinity degree and await an interview in December by the UUA to determine if I am ready for ordination. Biblical greek was a definite block in the road but has been accomplished. Don’t ask me anything in Greek because I likely cannot answer!
We have a busy and exciting year coming up. I hope to have a new members workshop and celebration this Fall so watch for this if you are interested .
Also we have not had formal greeters since COVID and there will be an in-service this fall outlining the new process. Please sign up if you are interested!
We have had upwards of 40 to 50 people this summer at most services. I recall days where there were 15-20. It is amazing as we are filling a need for a spiritual home in difficult times.
As many of you know I continue as Chair of the Argyle Basic Needs team to keep community agencies and churches apprised of what is available to those who live in this area. As well, we have joined with LAIC the London and Area Interfaith Collective and recently had a successful picnic with many different faith communities. It is so UU to come together in love despite our differing practices and beliefs. I had a wonderful spiritual talk with a Muslim man that was so enlightening and poignant. This is what it’s all about! There will be more offerings of education and fellowship from LAIC and I will keep you apprised of the opportunities.
It is likely that we will again partner with the Meaning Making group to bring you uniquely Unitarian Universalist services from across Canada. The topic this year is Meeting the Moment with Love and Justice. “Our lives are changing. How are we preparing for this moment? How is our enduring Unitarian Universalist commitment to love and justice lived in this time? This year we are turning to our UU sources for grounding, renewal and inspiration.”
Thank you all for making my job so rewarding. 2025/26 will be a busy and joy filled year at the UFL.
